Things to do in Fort Worth
Often explored as a part of a trip to the Dallas area, Fort Worth is a Texas town that has perfectly maintained a blend of its Texan boots-and-spurs history with a modern downtown district, botanical gardens and museums such as the world-famous Kimbell museum.
Although the city is now inhabited by nearly half a million residents, Fort Worth traces its roots back to 1849, when it was a US Army fort along the Chisholm Trail. Due to this placement and the arrival of railroads, it not only came to be known as the 'City Where the West Begins', but it also came to be known as the 'Wall Street of the West' for its importance in livestock exchange along the trail. Today, you can still visit the Fort Worth Stockyards to see this part of Fort Worth history.
Our advice for your visit to Fort Worth: the summertime is hot, the winter is comfortable, the people are friendly and don't be suprised to see a mix of cowboys and businessmen in this new-Texas town.
